Our Energy Use |

![]() This graph clearly shows the trend toward increasing electricity consumption with the passage of time. The increase can be attributed to both natural population increases as well as growing reliance on such electric appliances as computers and televisions.
This graph is a representation of the role of various energy sources in world electricity generation. It is interesting to note that while fossil fuels do indeed account for the great majority of the electricity, both nuclear and hydroelectric power sources constitute a sizable minority. Also interesting is the fact that hydroelectric has a slightly larger share of world electricity generation than nuclear, whereas in the United States it is opposite. This is attributable to the fact that many other countries that do not house the megametropolises of the US can use hydroelectric generating systems to much better effect than can the US.
