While working for the perfection of his art, Cacnio pursues the enhancement of the local art scene. He was president of the Philippine Association of Figure Artist from 1989 to 1991. He was appointed director of the National Commission on Visual Arts, Vice-president of the Watercolorist Association of the Philippines, and director and secretary of the University of the Philippines Alumni Foundation, College of Fine Art from 1992 to 1994. Co-founder of the Visual Artists Creative Group and currently elected as chairman (1996).
Cacnio, together with a fellow artist, was commissioned for a mural for the SEARCA Building of the University of the Philippines in Los Banos in 1979. He was commissioned to design the 100 and 20 peso bills, and the fifty,twenty-five, and one-centavo coins that were first circulated in 1982-1983.Samples of his work could also be gleened from other popular media such as corporate calendars, planners, and posters.
