Dome of the Rock

The Dome of the Rock is the second most holy of the Muslim shrines and was built on the former site of the Temple of Solomon. It was here that it is believed that the prophet Muhammad ascended into heaven to receive the commandments from God. The Dome of the Rock is a very impressive building and is as fully intact as it was when it was established in 691 with only few minor changes.
