Coral Reefs

Coral Reefs can be found throughout the South
Pacific Ocean. Coral is made up of the dead bodies of polyps, small sea creatures. The
combined skeletons of millions of these creatures have deposited and slowly built upward,
until the surface is reached. However, a coral reef is capable of being either close or
far away from a shore line, protecting the coastline from destructive waves and making
calm, clear waters in between.
There are many coral reefs throughout the world, and many that happen to be near the
beautiful coasts of Australia, creating a magnificent underwater world.
