The story of aviation has very humble beginnings. They range from creative story-tellers weaving tales of human flight to grown men jumping off of towers and attempting to glide aided only by the blankets in which they were wrapped. Unlike many other innovations, aviation was, for the most part, pioneered by people who most at the time considered crazy. The very idea of humans flying was so incredibly fanciful, that most dared not even speak of it seriously. To those that did, though, it became apparent that flight was indeed a task that man is quite capable of achieving, and they dedicated their lives to seeing this vision through. Once looked upon as a ridiculous dream never to be achieved, flight was only realized through the tireless, and sometimes misguided, efforts of those who dared to challenge the notion that man was never meant to fly. In this section, we will tell you the stories of these visionaries and how their imaginations and perseverance eventually accomplished the impossible -- flight.
