The aircraft of the future for general aviation will be safer, faster, and easier to fly. The Advanced Personal Air Transportation System (APATS) is a concept airplane designed by a partnership between AGATE, FAA, and NASA to bring the technologies available today into the highly outdated technologies being utilized by General Aviation. The airplane will utilize airbags and side impact bars to make the survivability of the airplane greater. Computerized systems will help the airplane be easier to navigate and will combine the instruments into an easy to see display. In the future teenagers will be just as likely to get their pilot's license as their drivers.
