She now works at Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, directing the clinical cytogenetics laboratory. She has been working for the past 14 years at St. Jude. Her work consists mainly of testing to evaluate chromosomal abnormalities in children. Her work deals with the mitosis phase of cell division.
Dr. Raimondi has spent the last 23 years studying genetics. She came to America to go to college on a scholarship from the Rotary International Club.
Dr. Susanna Catalina Raimondi says that women only make up about two to three percent of geneticists. Despite all of
these odds and lack of participation of women, Dr. Raimondi says that she would not trade her job and
research for anything in the world.
