Dr. Philippa Marrack

Dr. Marrack is a research immunologist at the   National Jewish Center For Immunology and Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Denver. She discovered the way toxic cell syndrome occurs and she also knows why the human defense system fights its own cells in diseases such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and diabetes.

The immune system is composed of the T-cell and the B-cell. The B-cell fights diseases, but the T-cell must be there for the B-cell to work. When the two cells come to close together (called the kiss) the   immune system releases too many poisons to fight the bad cells and end up fighting the good cells also. She and her husband Dr. Kappler used probes in mice to study this effect.
