| Description: | Hi everyone! My name is Nicole Theresa Hassold and for the
last year now, I have had the pleasure of working with Kyle Thomas, Arne Frerichs,
Mrs. DuFur and Dr. Oellrich on this wonderful project. First and foremost, I would
like to say thank you to all of you guys for working with me on this page! I knew
from the very beginning that this web page was going to be one of the best. Okay, now a little bit about me. I just graduated from Craigmont High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Right now I am on my way to starting college at the University of Tennessee at Martin. My plans are to become an elementary school teacher. I have a rather large family. I live with my mother and stepfather and two cats and my father, stepmother, two sisters and brother live in Wisconsin, where I am originally from. We moved down to Memphis about five years ago, and now, the Southern style of living is sort of stuck in my blood. This was my first time ever working on a project for the World Wide Web. It has been a long and hard time but now that everything is finally done, it looks great! We have had so much fun working on the page. Thank you so much to Kyle and Arne for putting up with me and for working so hard to make it the success that it is! Mrs. DuFur: thanks for all of the pushing and making me work hard. This web page is so great! Now, there is finally a page devoted to women! |

| Description: | I had a lot of fun and learned so much from participating
in this website. Before we started this project, I knew next to nothing
about computers, and now I know plenty about the internet and web page
concept and design. This site is really important because it provides
great information on women scientists and has a wonderful mentoring
concept. I play the clarinet in my high school's band and orchestra and in the Bartlett Community Concert Band. I am also co-captain of the Flag Color Guard, president of the International Studies Club, an officer of the Student Council, and member of the National Honor Society and Interact Club(school service). I am also a member of Bridge Builders which is a community service and leadership program. History and English are my favorite activities. |

| Description: | I decided to participate in the ThinkQuest 1998 contest because I wanted to make the
experience of working together with students all over the world. A teacher of my school, Dr. Martin Lichte, asked me if I wanted to
join a team which wanted to create an entry about "Women in Science". I agreed and Dr. Lichte gave me the email addresses of
Nicole, Kyle and Mrs. DuFur. We got into contact just 3 hours after I had talked to Dr.
Lichte. I had a lot of fun creating this site. Nicole and Kyle had new ideas nearly every
week, so that we had VERY much to communicate about with each other via email. I think this
is an important aspect of participating in ThinkQuest. The greatest challenge were the
CGI parts of the site. Never before I had had to work with CGIs, but it is just great when scripts
work right from the start. Then you can feel really happy. After all, I think we created a
good and informative web site about "Women in Science". In my free time, I enjoy playing the flute in two orchestras, playing volleyball and watching StarTrek. (Live long and prosper!) I'm very interested in everything that deals with computers. I co-supervise the network of our school, which has had an Internet connection since January 1998. This connection was a GREAT help in the process of creating this site. It allowed me to test out new CGI scripts without having an eye on the telephone check.
I have another web site online. It deals with a German brass band. This band comes from the north-western part of Germany (no, not
from Bavaria). The site is in German and the band is called |
