Alison Dean has nicely varied days, so she doesn't really have a typical day.
Different times of the year, she tends to concentrate on different things - summer: toxics release report,
pollution prevention plan, construction activities; winter:
dangerous waste report, tier II report, training, etc. She organizes projects, manages hazardous waste, supervises
the lab staff, trains all the employees (about chemicals, hazardous waste, and emergencies), signs bills, writes
budgets, and many plans and reports.
Dean found out that she liked chemistry very much in college, where she took her first chemistry class. She simultaneously discovered that she didn't enjoy biology, so she changed majors from biology. Since graduating, she has worked at a university, sewage treatment plant, water treatment (boiler and condenser plant, and an aluminum smelter.
