In time when one says "Crowded road stress me out," for this person, stress is the stimulative cause for displeasure. On the other hand, "get a gastric ulcer because of the stress" is little bit different.
This stress means the condition that many stimulus affected the functions of body and forcing the organs to function abnormally. To say it easily, we call 1) some unspecified cause that makes one to fell the stress, and 2) the accumulated "something", which cannot be explained, caused by 1) a stress.
If this stress gets too much, it makes the body to go wrong such as ulcers. As written previously, there are two types of stress. One is the cause which leads to stressed condition. The other is result caused by the stressed condition. Like this the word "Stress" which we use regularly is very ambiguous in meaning.
