They discussed with America to solve the land issue and requested a
group of examiners. Upon request, they sent a group of Diet members
include Mr.Price. The Price Advices handed out next year include.
"In Okinawa there is no limitation and rule by foreign governments
regarding the storage and/or the use nuclear weapons."
Against Okinawa hope, however the advices refer to the unlimited use
of Okinawa and the importance of Okinawa as a base.
So, this made Okinawan people furious.(including nuclear weapons).
They discussed and established the four-point land principle.
That was
"We don't want blancket deals."
"We want proper compensation."
"We need compensation for damage."
"We are against further requisition."
In the meeting, they said "To block Price Advices, all Okinawan
people must be determined and refuse to sell land maintain the territorial
rights to the bitter end"
This "Fight for Land" also had a side of reversion movement.
Every resolution refers to the maintenance of the territorial rights.
On the other hand, the "Fight for Land" surprised the American
Government because they didn't expect such story racial movement to
occur in Okinawa. As a result, the U.S. Military gave up blancket purchase
of land and decided to pay higher rent for military use.
