After all the Okinawan high school students were sent out, next were the
junior high school students. In March, 1945, when the arrival of the U.S.
Military were to come soon, the Japanese Military sent the children out
as soldiers.
The situations of those days is written in "Okinawa's history of the
hard times ".
In March, the Japanese Military admitted prefectural second
high school's students into the Udo force. After that went smooth,
on March 24th, a day after the American air raid started, prefectural
second girl's school students became military nurses. On the 25th,
prefectural first girl's school students too became army nurses, Naha
city management school students became soldiers. On the 26th prefectural
third junior, second junior, Kainan junior and forestry high school
students joined the military, The third girl's school students became
nurses of the north. Furthermore, prefectural first junior high school
students became high level military. On 29th, prefectural industry
school students became high level. On the 31st , the day before the
Okinawa War broke out, Sekitoku private girl's school students became
high level nurses, and what more, youth older than 15 years old became
nurses, cooks, and courage soldiers. Those were all compulsory arrangement.
According to the passage, these were all compulsory arrangements. Many
students were not able to come back to school or home.
Families were broken, not even being known of the family's place of
death. What could ever be more cruel than this?
