| On December 8th 1941, Japan made a surprise attack at Perl Harbor and
the Asia Pacific War broke out. Japan spread the occupied territory quickly.
But in June 1942, Japan lost at midway ocean and, U.S. Military gained in
power. On July 7th 1944, Saipan island, or perfect national defense, surrendered. The U.S. Military occupied one island after another. The Japanese government announced "emergency measure", and soon many amusements facilities were closed, which made many people in mainland think that the situations were getting serious. However, about 3 months before that, the Japanese Governor had formed the 32nd troops, or Okinawa Defence Military. The Okinawa defense army started "the 10th military operation" They were to bases at Okinawa island, Miyako Yae island and defend Japan and, then Philippine, Formosa(Tainwan), Southwest Asian from U.S. Military. In other words, the Japan Government knew in advance the Okinawa War would break out soon. |
