Makiminato Service Area is a large military logistics service base in Urasoe city. It lies on the west side of National Highway 58 toward the coastline and runs 3 km north to south and 1 km west to east. Makiminato Service Area is surrounded by the National Highway 58, an arterial route in central Okinawa, and the Tomari port and wholesale commerce area that runs along the western coastline. This area is not only an important region for the development of Urasoe city but for all of Okinawa.
