THE PILOTS

Gaurav Puri is the team leader in this project. He attends Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. Gaurav will be entering grade 13 for the 1998-1999 school year. He involved with student leadership at his school. In the upcoming year he will be Editor In Chief of the school's first newspaper and during last year he was Officer for Unity and Diversity on the Students' Activity Council. Previously, Gaurav has also been Project Coordinator for the Parents Against Drugs Peer Education Program in his school. Other achievements include being awarded the Outstanding Community Service certificate, and being nominated for valedictorian. In his free time, Gaurav enjoys surfing the Internet and playing the piano. He is 18 years old. Gaurav plans on studying Computer Science in university once his final year of high school is complete.

Rahul Thakar is a grade ten student at Pine Ridge Secondary School. Along with achieving honor standards in academics, he actively participates in extracurricular activities. These activities include playing in the senior school band, taking part on the junior tennis team, being part of the Committee for Unity and Diversity. In the upcoming school year, Rahul will be the Director of Print and Publishing on the school's first newspaper. Rahul also does volunteer work at the Pickering Reading Circle. Rahul enjoys meeting new challenges, which test his skill and ability. This was one of the main reasons why he took on this project. This young man looks forward to his remaining years at high school, after which he hopes to continue his education by attending university.
