Working With The Wright Brothers

After Wilbur and Orville built the first self propelled, controlled plane, many inventors partnered with the Wright brothers in developing and flying planes. All planes that were being built at that time, were biplanes.

The First Monoplane

Leon Levavasseur, who introduced the Atoinette IV in 1908, built the first monoplane. The plane established the shape of airplanes to come. From the very beginning, there was a need to set records.

Setting Records

Louis Bleriot accomplished the first international flight in 1909, when he flew his monoplane from England to France. The first air crossing of North America was achieved in 1911. It took pilot Calibraith Rodger 49 days and 3 plane crashes to fly from New York to California.

Progress

We have come a long way since then and are continuing to grow and expand technologically, but we would be still on the ground today if it were not for some pioneers to take a risk and follow their dream.
