ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder is a noncureable problem that doesn’t let infected people concentrate on things. There are three kinds of ADD, ADD with hyperactivity, ADD without hyperactivity and ADD residual type.

ADD is characterized by a certain group of symptoms. ADD's main symptom is inattention. This means that a child’s attention span is too short and the child can not focus on things they do not like. Inattention is often caused also when a kid is distracted in any way from what they are doing whether it be audio, or visual. Another symptom of ADD is impulsivity. Impulsivity means acting without thinking. Kids who experience this symptom usually do everything comes into mind from talking or doing something that can hurt them or others. Children with ADD have even been known to do things like burn their house down or almost cause themselves to drown. Another symptom of ADD is impatience. A child with ADD often is impatient like when they want things, they want it now and only now. This cause parents a lot of stress. The fourth symptom of ADD usually occurs in younger ADD patients. This is hyperactivity. Kids with this symptom often can't stop moving and do not respond to people telling them to calm down or sit still. ADD girls are often less hyperactive then ADD boys. Another symptom of ADD is emotional Over arousal. Kids with this often can not only express small amounts of emotion but show emotion very strongly. They are usually either very happy or very sad. The sixth symptom of ADD is noncompliance. This means children usually have a hard time following the rules and usually have bad behavioral problems. The last two symptoms of ADD are social problems and disorganization.

There is no known causes of ADD. There are a few theories though. One says that ADD is caused by a biochemical imbalance and patients can not produce enough neurotransmitters. It also says that ADD might be caused by certain parts of the brain being lazy and not working hard enough to keep things under control. Another theory states that ADD is caused by heredity and that kids who get it get it because someone in their family had it.

There is also not a known cure for ADD. Some kids get better just with some counseling. Other kids need to take medication to make them concentrate and not do things without thinking. Some also need to take medicine to calm them down and help their hyperactiveness.

ADD effects people in all areas of an infected child’s life. People often say that the worst environment for a child with ADD is school. This is because in school you need to sit still and concentrate the whole day. ADD children often say that school is boring and that they do not like it. Usually this causes a child’s teacher to hate them and them to hate their teacher. This is because the teacher has to put up with a lot of stress. She first has to control the child’s behavioral problems so that the other students that want to learn do not have to put up with the child distracting them. The teacher also has to find a way to help the child get the work that he needs to do done so that he does not flunk every class and have to repeat grades.
Home is another problem area for ADD children. ADD children often drive everyone in their family to hate them at many times. The children are often the source of disruption all the time. Parents and siblings have to try to figure out ways to help the child’s behavior and also try to settle them down and make them do their schoolwork. This is always a burden on everyone.
Peers also get frustrated with their ADD friends. ADD kids often can not participate in games that require following strict rules and often argue over many things. ADD children are also sometimes bossy and even may get psychical causing a huge burden on their friends. At times like recess friends must try to keep their friends under control.
