designed in the early 1970s to collect information for the Apollo project. Nonetheless, in the 9 months that it was used, Skylab gained two greater purposes: to prove that humans could live and work in space for extended periods and to expand our knowledge of the solar system beyond the capabilities of the scientists on earth.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched Skylab on May 14, 1973. It was successfully

operated with and without astronaut crews for a total of 171 days, 13 hours. Skylab was site of about 300 technical and scientific experiments. There was also medical experiments researched on Skylab on humans' adaptability to zero gravity, solar observations, and detailed Earth resources experiments.
