In 1977 they started building an island on the Plaat van de Vliet of 960.000 m2. also a construction dock of 190.000 m2 was made. One million m3 earth and sand was dug out and 1.3 million m3 sand was put back. On September 1979 the first layer of concrete could be poured out.
