Each sectorgate consisting of a retaining wall, two three-dimensional trusses and one ball-joint weights the equivalent of two Eiffel Towers.
A ball-joint weights 680 tonnes: the same as 680 cars.
A locomobile weights 200 tonnes: as much as 20 heavy goods vehicles.
A complete retaining section (i.e. truss plus retaining wall and concrete foundation) is equal in length to the height of the Eiffel Tower. The main girders of the trusses are pipes with a diameter of 1.80 metres - enough for someone who is not too tall to walk in upright. A parking dock is 210 metres log: over four times as long as an Olympic swimming pool.
The pushing/tensile force of a locomobile amounts to 600 tonnes: equal to the strength of 6,000 strong men each lifting 100 kilos.
The force pounding the retaining wall during a storm amounts to 350 Meganewtons: equal to the force of 350,000 strong men each lifting 100 kilos.
