This dam lies between Schouwen-Duiveland and Goeree-Overvlakkee. This dam is not really necessary for the protection against flooding because it lies sheltered behind two other dams. It was built to make the construction easy of the Haringvliet-dam, the Brouwers-dam, and the Oosterschelde barrier by stopping the current.
