In contrast to the periods they gave little money for coastal defenses they realized that these form of neglect can be fatal. the budget for this part of national facilities was raised. For these extra activities on the coasts and in the polders the infra structure had to be reorganized and more roads were needed. Not only all the former islands were connected by dams but also by new roads and many places could be reached more easily and faster. Generations witnessed the many changes in the last 50 years. Agriculture for example: legal re-division and re-allotment of land was introduced and also many labor was mechanized.
