There are some documents and resources to help programmers using
TADS. Most, if not all, of these documents are stored in the
IF-Archive of the GMD FTP
server.
You'll need to look up the following directory: ftp://ftp.gmd.de/if-archive/programming/tads.
This directory contains the following directories:
| Examples | Learn by viewing finished adventure games. Invaluable. |
| Executables | Files necessary to compile your adventure game script. |
| Library | Files usable to extend the possibilities of your adventure. |
| Manuals | Must-reads and interesting documents. |
| Source | Source codes for the compilers, very technical. |
| Utilities | General utilities. |
Please note that the FTP directory can also be browsed in HTML format by going to http://bang.ml.org/if-archive.
In addition, Tela Design has made a website all about TADS, which can be found at: http://www.tela.bc.ca/tela/tads/.
A good place to ask questions is the IF-programming newsgroup
(start posts regarding TADS with [TADS] in the subject line)

After you've finally completed your adventure (which will take some time), you should let the entire text-adventure scene enjoy it! There are several places for you to upload and publish your adventure:
Right here! We offer you
space to publish your very own text-adventure. To do this, go to
the upload form. You can also publish
your adventure on the Message Board(Sorry,no longer active.).
The GMD IF-Archive. You
can upload your adventure to: ftp://ftp.gmd.de/incoming/if-archive.
After the upload, be sure to send an E-Mail to
and explain what you
have uploaded. If you don't, the adventure may be deleted.
The rec.games.int-fiction newsgroup.
This newsgroup is all about playing text-adventures. You may not
upload your adventure to this newsgroup, to keep download times for
people with slow connections low, but you can post an announcement
of your adventure containing a link to your adventure on this site
and/or on the GMD archive, so that people can download it.
