Ralph Lauren

"The first image-maker", according to New York magazine, Ralph Lauren was born in Bronx, New York on October 14, 1939 as Ralph Lipschitz. He first started his work in men's fashion but soon applied his talents in timeless elegance in women's fashion. He created clothing for the active women, by using high-quality tweeds, by modifying men's trousers and jackets, and by producing shirts in finer cottons. On the other hand, Lauren also produced his line of Roughwear, directly inspired by the tradition of America's past. Lauren has promoted a deeply American casual style in his prairie look, yet developing classic, plain lines that have given him international fame.
