The turn of the 20th
century accompanied by many technological advancements and
involvement in the first world war brought many changes to both the
norms of society and its fashion. By the end of the first decade
much of the strait-laced Victorian image had given rise to a more
carefree and relaxed flavor. The first decade featured Edwardian
styles with an s-shaped silhouette full pouched bodice. Gored
skirts which were flat in the front and emphasized a rounded
hipline in the back and close fitting to the knee and then flared
at the bottom were also popular. |
