Gorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani was born in Piacenza, Italy on the 11th of July, 1934. He is a design colonialist famous for the creation of an aesthetic in both menswear and womenswear that had a grip on international style in the 1980s. Armani is responsible for the restructuring of the jacket into a softly tailored look, by eliminating interfaces, linings, and shoulder pads. Even though his clothing is expensive, its glamour is understated and would never be described as ostentatious. Eschewing changes for its own sake, Armani believes in quality rather than innovation. In 1974, he launched his own label, which was to become the biggest- selling line of European design in America. His first designs revolved around the refinement of men's jackets but he also developed a style for working women that had his usual understated yet almost androgynous, chic. Armani's clothing was very expensive because it was being made out of the most luxurious materials such as suede, cashmere, and alpaca so to expand his clientele and to meet the demands of a fashion conscious public for clothing with a designer label, he started a cheaper womenswear range entitled Mani, made out of synthetics so advanced that couldn't be imitated, along with the popular Emporio Armani range of sportswear. Armani's clothes are quit anonymous, suited to city life- the epitome of post-modern style.
