Suggestions on public speaking
- A good speech can only be achieved through preparation & practiced. Remember the cliché "practice makes
perfect"
- Practice in front of a mirror & make use of a tape recorder
- Voice projection is important. You must remember that you must talk so the person who is in the back of the room can
hear you clearly
- Eye contact is a must with any audience. Don't read your speech!!!
- Plan your speech in full, then transfer it to small note cards. Do not transfer every word. Use a highlighter to emphasize
key words
- Include humor in your presentation
- Consider including an anecdote, one that serves to climax your message such as an example or incident
- Remember the time limit on your speech. You may want to place your watch on the table in front of you
- Vary your tempo, expression & emphasis. A monotone is boring
- Your audience won't eat you. Relax and SMILE :-)
