My opinion is that the human race needs to continually try to learn about the universe, and how to control it for our continued betterment and evolution, in order to survive. Species continually mutate generation to generation to adapt to the environment. Some survive, others do not. Who knows what genetic engineering and cloning will eventually lead to. There will be disasters along the way, perhaps catastrophic. Likewise, these technologies could lead to a new evolution of 'super humans'. We still need to continually pursue our natural tendency to understand everything in the universe. Not only do I think it is necessary for our continued existence, but also unnavoidable due to our innate nature.
