This is an excellent point. One problem I have with it, though, is: What about fate? Do you believe God has an intention or plan for each of us? If he does, isn't our ability to fulfill our purpose often dependent on genetics? Plus, think about it, didn't God create the first humans' genetic characteristics? (Whether that was Adam and Eve or a monkey I won't get into. I haven't decided what I think yet.) Plus, even within your own parents there are innumerable combinations which could result. Considering the number of relations which came before you the chances of you turning out how you did are miniscule. Do you really think that your charicteristics were thrown to chance? Are you saying that God had no influence on which sex cells came together at all?
As for the poor souls who end up with genetic diseases, I don't know what to say. I could say "that's life" or "deal with it," but that is cliche and heartless. Saying that God intended for them to suffer that way is difficult too. I haven't experienced it, so I have no satisfactory response. You've definately got me thinking.
