Some Common Causes of Manatee Deaths
- Watercrafts collisions
- Flood gate or canal lock crush them or cause them to drown
- Other human-related causes such as fishing lines, poaching, vandalism, sewers or other man-made structures
- Dependent young calves get separated from their mothers
- Natural causes such as red tides, cold stress, or diseases
