ENRICO FERMI
Enrico Fermi

Enrico Fermi was born in 1901 in Italy. In 1925 he develop one of the quantum statistics of particles; and in 1934 he gave the theory of the beta disintegration. Between 1934 and 1938 with some other scientists he reach the artificial radioisotopes by shooting different chemical elements with neutrons. He discovered the chain nuclear reactions (the fission of atomic nucleuses under the influence of neutrons. From 1926 to 1938 he had a char in university in Rome. In 1938 he emigrated to USA, when in 1939 he became a professor at Columbia University, and in 1941 at Chicago University. There in 1942 a group of scientists under his management built the first nuclear reactor. From 1944 to 1946 he was working on constructing the first atomic bomb in Los Alamos. In 1952 while he was observing dissipation of pi(+) - mesons on the protons he discovered baryon resonance.
To the end of his life he researches on high energy physics. In 1938 Enrico Fermi received a Nobel Prize.
