Piazza Venezia

The last square we make mention of is the Piazza Venezia, which took it’s name from Venezia Palace, which pope PaoloII built in 1455. This pope used the square for amusement and entertainment and sometimes there were horse-races. In the fascist time it got a different purpose. The entertainment was that Mussolini was making speeches. This did he on the balcony of the Venezia Palace, and the paople, who disliked the system called it "Romeo and Julia" : it must have been very dramatic!

This square links all styles in Rome. Here can everything be found: ruines of the Dark Ages and buildings of the popes, so last but not least.
