Fontana dell Acqua Paola
This fountain, which was built in 1612, was made for Paulus V because he wanted to celebrate the successful renovation of the anurent Acqua Trajana. The fontain is also named after him. He gave the order to Flamino Ponzio, who was helped by Giovanni Fontana to build a masterpiece. That succeeded. Many Romans call the fountain Il Fontanoe; the big founain.
The building stones are plundered from the forum of Nerva, so it is a real monument of the baroc.
