This scholarship, sponsored by the Educational Communications Scholarship Foundation, awards $175,000 worth of money to worthy students intending to study in any field, including science. 175 Awards are typically presented to applicants, each of approximately $1000 denominations. The application deadline is May 31 and the notification deadline is August 5. Applications should be requested by March 15. Applicants must demonstrate leadership skills and academic achievement. Applications are evaluated by an independent committee on the basis of GPA, achievement test scores, work experience, and financial need. The SAT or ACT is required, as well as a personal essay and recommendations.
