RESEARCH. Massachusetts General Hospital offers a Summer Research Trainee Program (SRTP) for minority students in pre-medicine. The purpose of the program is to introduce students to opportunities available in biomedical research and clinical medicine. Research opportunities exist over a broad range of disciplines, encompassing primarily basic science projects. The program lasts for eight weeks and provides a stipend of $3000. Students are assigned to an advisor and at the end of the program present an oral and written presentation. A few of the students will be able to participate at the Merck Research Laboratory in Rahway, NJ. In order to apply students must complete their sophomore year. The application deadline is February 17.
