Matthew Struck Personal Biography My name is Matthew Struck and I was born in New Jersey. I have been active in sports for most of my life that includes playing soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. As of recently, I play baseball for West Essex High School. I also pursued the involvement in soccer but did not follow through with that sport past freshman year. I am into computer games, web site creation, and surfing the net amongst many things associated with computers that I enjoy. Also, I keep extremely active in extra curricular activities in an attempt to distinguish myself from the crowd and attend a top named university. I am very active in independent scientific research and have won several awards at several science fairs and competitions. In concordance with my involvement in scientific research I desire to further my education and distance myself from the average student through the usage of upper level equipment. Thus, I was able to play an active role in getting some pretty expensive equipment donated to my High School. Associated with my science interest are also a massive number of engineering and science clubs, activities, and competitions that I am involved in (both team and individual). In such activities and competitions I again presented and competed well and was able to win awards from this area of my involvements as well. Finally, I really enjoy watching movies. In fact, I watch most movies more than once and can learn the lines to any movie that strikes my fancy. I love the fact that at any given time in a certain movie I can quote (almost ver batim) any actors lines with decent proximity. Thats who I am and where I am coming from. Thoughts on being involved in this years contest I learned a great deal this year through my involvement in this contest. Last year I got involved to just dabble and learn a little about the Internet. However, now I am hooked. I used to just piece together information and pictures in order to make a presentable web site. Except, everything that my peers were doing was way over my head. Therefore, I began learning and getting involved. I learned a little HTML, pushed myself to explore many picture manipulation and finishing programs, and can now fully utilize web building programs now that I understand their true potential and repetoir features. I was lucky to be able to join a team with two of my closer friends. I get along with these two guys really well and that made it a whole lot easier to accomplish our task of completing our website. Also, the three of us are quite intelligent and we combined to make a great "think tank" whenever ideas were proposed or problems arose. Finally, I enjoyed the interaction with my two partners due to the fact that we were working together to combine efforts and create something that displayed all of our talents and was able to make all of us look like masters at website creation. I loved this project and wish that I can get involved in something similar to web site design in college and eventually in my area of work (chemical engineering/ biochemistry). Favorite aspect of the site The Hoard of information contained within it and the opportunities it creates to further the information outside of the site.
