mars.GIF (152958 bytes)     Over the last year Mars has become one of the central icons in not only the field of science but of the world. This augmented interest in Mars has been fueled by the Pathfinder mission. The Pathfinder is a small motor vehicle that landed on Mars on July 4, 1997; it has led to great strides in learning about the fourth planet from the sun. However, these recent discoveries about Mars have not come without controversy and posing questions. This is where the reasons for our construction of this webpage comes into play. The purpose of our webpage, "Mars: Mankind's Future Lies in Space", is to describe and analyze Mars. In addition we want to develop what the missions to Mars have accomplished.  The Pathfinder mission will be focused on extensively since it is probably one of the more decorated scientific events of the century. Along with this, we intend to explore the possibility of life once existing on Mars, or the possibility that life will exist there.
