Geology and Geomorphology

PIA01238(1).jpg (15702 bytes)     During the Pathfinder mission, one of the main scientific objectives was to discover and process the geology aspect of Mars.  This included taking inumerous pictures that gave scientists an idea of the martian landscape that would aid them is gaining a more broad understanding of how life could have once existed on Mars.  In addition, the knowledge gained about the immediate surroundings of the Pathfinder Landing site allowed scientist to learn about weather patterns observed in drifts and erosion observed in rock surfaces.  This information would eventually help scientist discover the truth about Mars' past and answer many questions about its future.  Below you will find all the infomation gained through the work of the Sojourner rover and some interpretations of the scientific community.wpe5.jpg (5317 bytes)
