Geek clothing was very flowing and loose. Men and woman wore a chiton. A chiton was made by fastening or tying together a piece of linen or wool cloth, leaving gaps in for the head and arms. It was often died a color, such as yellow or red. For the wealthy men and women, the chiton went down to the ankles, but for the working men, children, and slaves, it went down to the knees, so they were free to run around and do chores. Over the chiton some people would have worn a cloak called a himaton, which usually had decorated borders.

The clothes the Greeks wore were light and appropriate to the warm climate in which they lived in. Women let their hair grow, but slaves were limited to short hair. Before they were married, women would wear their hair in ringlets. When they were married, they would pile their hair on top of their head with ribbons. The rich men and women would wear jewelry. The men would wear gold rings on their fingers, and they fastened their cloaks with brooches. The women would wear a lot of gold and silver. Women wore dangling earrings, bracelets, and rings.
