Why does Homeric Literature still
survive Today?
Why Homeric literature still survives
today is a mystery that is a little easier to fathom than those
discussed previously in the past pages. The exact history of Homer's
works follow and an often dark and twisted path to finally become
such a staple what we call our "classics" of literature. There were
many years, long centuries in fact, when Homer's works completely
disappeared, and then were rediscovered.
Thanks to this
rediscovering the work of scribes of history, we still have these
great epic works to enjoy, learn from, and become engrossed in today.
Who was Homer? Where did he live and when? Questions like these are
important, modern scholars have been pouring over them for years,
dilligently looking for theories and answers. However perhaps most
importantly is not the exact and scientific anthropology of Homer and
his works, but the mere and simple fact that we have his wonderful
and extremely old works as a part of our world's great classical
libraries.
