Women in Politics | Women in Sports | The History of Women's Rights

Welcome! This part of our site is all about Women's Rights. The WNBA could not be possible without Women's Rights and the suffrage movement. The traditional position of an American woman was a mother, housewife, and homemaker, which required very little schooling. Not a professional athlete, doctor, lawyer, or any other "male" job. The woman was always expected to take a back seat while the man provided the income, security and welfare of the family. That was all great then, but in the twentieth century women have made a giant leap to finally be treated equally to their male counterparts. This section is all about woman, and their rise to gain equal rights as a U.S. citizen.
