The suspension
of an automobile is a system that isolates the passenger cabin from
road shocks and impacts. These systems compress and extend to allow
the body of the vehicle in a relatively level position and keep the
wheels on the ground over uneven terrain. Most systems use a series
of spring and dampers as suspension systems. These springs can be
either coil, air, torsion, or leafs in any of several positions and
locations and rates. The suspension can also contain sway bars and
in some vehicles may be integrated into the steering
system.
