The fuel injector is
an electromechanical device that sprays and atomizes the fuel. When
electric current is applied to the injector coil of the device, a
magnetic field is created causing the armature to move upward. This
therefore pulls a the pintle valve off its seat. Once this occurs,
the fuel under pressure can flow out of the injector nozzle. When
the injector is de-energized, the spring pushes the ball onto its
seat and stops the flow of fuel.
