: I have offered to donate an egg to my sister-in-law (married to my brother) who is unable to produce her own eggs. My egg would be mixed with her brother's sperm and artificially inseminated into her to carry.

: My question is wouldn't this child be genetically their child. Don't I carry the same gene pool as my brother and her brother carries her gene pool?

: Thanks
: Janet

you share about 1/2 of your genetic code with your brother, as does she with hers, so in theory, 1/4 each of the genetic code would be the same as the parents while 1/4 each would come from the egg and sperm donor.
