The Magic Kingdom has a wonderful world of places to measure with your quadrant. Here are a few places in the Magic Kingdom that we had fun with. Your first stop on this tour will be the entrance into Tommorrowland and aim your quadrant toward the top of the solar system.
Once again your pacing will need to have some guestamation, as you can not get near the center.
What about Space Mountain?
Facing Space Mountain find the farest most left metal palm tree
we were looking for the degrees--It was aproximately 155 feet to the center. The actual height is 183feet 5 3/4 inches.
Cinderella's Castle??
When leaving Tommorrowland you can take a side path up to the castle on the right side. watch for the pavement change then take your measurements. The Actual height is 180 feet.
Try some other places in the parks--Splash Mountain (from the top of the log shoot), and how about the Bat on the top of the Haunted House. (didn't know it was there??) How about heading over to the water parks. The highest point of Blizzard Beach can be measured from the parking lot (that's free).
While in Central Florida there are many places to measure. Sea World has it's tower that you can actually go to the top. Maybe you can measure something looking down?? There is the doppler tower for one of the tv stations on the side of I-4. Universal Studios were real helpful when we inquired about things like height of the top of the tea box in Fival's Playground, or the top of the mast to the boat from the movie Water World. Then here is a challenge, how long is JAWS hanging in the square. Do Not include the stucture holding the fish, just the fish.
If you have some idea, let us know-this part will be updated to include other places as time allows.
Have Fun!!!
