About The Team

Krista Johanson
Krista Johanson was born one chilly (-40° C) January 1982 day in Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories. Since then, she has lived in Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, and is currently an inhabitant of Halifax, Nova Scotia. A grade 11 student with aspirations of becoming a lawyer (or going into Computer Science; she hasn't decided yet), Krista spends her time acting, camping, playing the piano, and taking out her aggression (grr!) on the Rugby field. Past (and current) web projects include Unica Island: Journey into Communication, The Natural History of Nova Scotia, Refrigerant Services, Inc, and Language Links. She can be reached at johanson@fox.nstn.ca.

Shayda Daley
While many people who are born in the small town of Sussex New Brunswick Canada spend their entire lives in their comfortable surroundings, my parents have always made certain that my life takes unusual and unexpected turns. Traveling the world has always been a passion for me, my brother Aaron and my parents. These travels have taken me to places as far-flung as the Soviet Union, Finland, England, Austria, Kenya, and Uganda. One of our very first experiences began when my parents took a years leave of absence from teaching in order that our young family could experience a new way of living. At the age of three, Cooperstown, located on the Bahamian island of Abaco, became mine and my familys new home for a year. Pigs and wild chickens roamed the backyard and I became accustomed to the constant stream of ants which marched across my bed. However, since our roots remained in Sussex , we were able to easily slip back into the slow pace of life there. During my early years, I started to explore different sports including dance, figure skating, swimming and basketball. Although sports still tend to occupy much of my time, I have a lot of other things that must come first. It has been two years since we moved to Haifa Israel. This time, however, my parents are religious volunteers at the Bahai World Center. My days here are very long. Catching the bus at 6:30 in the morning, and not returning until almost five in the afternoon, is to be expected for any student who makes the trip to the American International School in Kfar Shemaryahu (approx. 15 km from Tel-Aviv). In many ways it has not always been easy to accommodate these constant changes in my life. I find that easy access to the Internet has been and always will be my lifeline, in terms of keeping touch with the people that I meet from all over the world.

Shayda can be reached at sdaley@bwc.org.

I'm the only team member who still lives in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada. I turn 16 in September, and can't wait to graduate high school. Activities include drama, newspaper, skiing, biking, and soccer (we won the provincial champs, yeah!). This year I'm doing the Duke of Ed Achievement Award, and I've gotta get ready for SAT's & Stuff, since I want to go to college in the states. Oh yeah, and how could I forget - I work at McDonald's. :-)
