The Global Gazette
Teacher's Corner

The object of the Global Gazette is to teach students more about what “culture” really is; to introduce them to the editors’ cultures and to general topics of cultures.

There are several ways of using the Global Gazette as an educational tool in class:

· One can use it simply as a reference; to find articles on a specific subject.

·  The recipes in the Everyday Life section can be used to teach about different cultures, giving the students a tasty, real life experience.

·  The instructions showing how to make a Scandinavian Christmas decorations can be used to enchance arts or social science classes.

· The questions (marked with a big, yellow question mark)  posed throughout the Gazette are meant to make the students think more carefully about a subject. Some of the questions are not just simple questions, but tasks the students can do in class.

· The stories, articles and questions can be used as a starting point for class discussions.

· The Global Gazette Language section can be used to teach students about the art of literature and different styles of writing.

· The students can read, reflect and comment on other students’ essays. The students could try being teachers for the others’ stories and express views on how the the story could be improved (an editoral function). All students would be welcome to submit their comments to other stories in the Showcase Room.

· The students are welcome to publish their work of language in the Global Gazette Showcase Room

· Our wish is to educate people. We have collected a large number of links which might be of interest so that one doesn't have to limit oneself to just our site. This collection of links can be found in the links section.
