    Helen Sebidi: Untitled (1989)

Helen Sebidi created this work using pastels on paper. It is done in her typical style, with figures cramped into the picture space. Here it appears as though one figure is offering the dominating figure an apple, which the main figure is refusing. This could be linked back to Adam and Eve. Perhaps this figure is choosing not to be persuaded by the evils of society and the township. The goat and other animals represent African rituals. This work would be placed on the timeline anywhere during the 1980s.
