Federated Union of Black Arts

FUBA (Federated Union of Black Arts) Arts Academy was founded in 1978 in Johannesburg to give hope and fire to flagging aspirations. The aim is to educate and train budding artists in the disciplines of music, drama, contemporary dance, creative writing and fine arts. The immediate goal is to inform these artists of the basic knowledge required in order to develop one's talents in these disciplines.

In July 1979 FUBA began occupation of two floors of an old building on the outskirts of Johannesburg. Classes were initially on a part-time basis for both scholars and workers, but later enrolled full-time pupils for fine arts and music classes, with a full-time employed staff. The services of the organisation are centered mainly in Johannesburg.
